Obituary of Raymond H Pierce

Raymond "Sonny" Hugh Pierce, Jr. of Concord, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was born January 22, 1942 in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Raymond H. Pierce, Sr. and Virgie Cook Buffalo. Sonny served God faithfully and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. He was given many gifts, one of which he never knew a stranger. He was a history buff and a die hard West Virginia fan. He was a hardworking man providing for his family, retiring from his own business Precast Construction Products of Charlotte, NC. In his younger years, Sonny enjoyed coaching his son's baseball team and then went on to coach his grandson's baseball team. He never missed any of his grandchildren's sporting events and was their biggest fan. Those left to cherish Sonny's memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda Centofanti Pierce; daughter, Karen and husband Page Perkinson of Richmond, VA; daughter, Michelle and husband Brian Webb of Concord, NC; son, Ray Pierce and his wife Misty of Denver, NC; loving grandfather to Chad & Kyle Perkinson, Joannie and Adam Webb, Cassidy Webb, Hannah and Kaylee Pierce, Sierra and Levi Sharp; great-grandfather to Emery Rose Webb; brothers and sisters in-law, Jack and Dawn Centofanti of Huntingdon, England and Art and Karen Centofanti of Masontown, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andy and Margaret Centofanti. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 26 in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord, NC, with Rev. Michael Waters officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home until 5 pm. A graveside service will be held 10 am, Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Masontown Cemetery in Masontown, WV with Rev. Dr. David Spence officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials being made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr NW, Concord, NC 28027 or to Memorial Processing, St Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
