Destinee Pyles

Obituary of Destinee Cheyenne Pyles

Destinee Cheyenne Hei Kyung Pyles, age 29, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She is safe in the arms of our precious Savior and is reunited with her loved ones. After struggling with addiction, Destinee is now at peace, and her suffering has ended.

Destinee was born in Kuri, South Korea (Kyunggi-do Province) on August 4, 1995. She was adopted and brought to America as a baby, the beloved daughter of Robert (BJ) Pyles of Preston County, WV, and the late Lisa Berry Pyles.

As a child, Destinee was bright, inquisitive and personable. She would approach any adult and start chattering away, never shying away from anyone. Another South Korean child, Emilee, soon joined the family. The girls developed an instant bond and remained close. Emilee fondly remembers quality time spent in Washington, D.C. with Destinee and their father and spoke of her sister's ability to be loving, supportive and loyal.

When she was young, Destinee loved to travel long distances with her dad in his big rig, as they traversed and explored the country. Her dad remembers taking both girls to restaurants when they were very young, and how people would comment on the girls' perfect manners and good behavior.

Destinee was a deep thinker, intelligent and artistic. A gifted writer, she loved to compose stories and poetry, often illustrated with her original sketches. She was also known as an excellent cook and an animal lover.

She was a 2014 graduate of Preston High School and was later employed at Circle K in Westover, WV.

Destinee is survived by a daughter, Lily; father, Robert (BJ) Pyles and his wife, Charlene of Independence; sister, Emilee Pyles and partner, John Perkins of Fairmont, WV; partner, Barry Michaels of Morgantown; grandmother, Ruth Ann Pyles of Masontown, WV. Destinee also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to her mother, Lisa Pyles, Destinee is preceded in death by her grandfather Robert Pyles, Sr. and grandparents, Mollieanne and Joe Spano and Eileen and Dale Berry.
