Obituary of Robert Shaffer
Robert Allen Boat Shaffer, 45, of Reedsville, WV, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at home.
He was born November 10, 1964, son of the late Frank James Sonny, Jr. and Frances Lee Sue Radabaugh Shaffer.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved hunting, camping, and riding his Harley. He never knew a stranger and was always there to lend a helping hand. He was employed at JennMar Corporation in Reedsville and was a member of the Valley Sportsman Association and the National HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and Easyriders.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna Lori Danser Shaffer; two daughters, Kathleen Sue Shaffer Blon and husband Glen and Jessica Ann Shaffer; two grandchildren, Trinity Sue Marsh and unborn baby Blon, all of Reedsville; two brothers, Warren Skip Shaffer and wife Christine of Dogtown Road, Carl L. Shaffer and companion Sally of Reedsville; one sister, Hazel J. Shaffer and companion Charles Friend, sister-in-law, Clarissa Jane Shaffer, all of Masontown; father and mother-in-law, Everett and Elsie Danser; sister-in-law, Vanette Broadstock and spouse Tom, all of Reedsville; several uncles and aunts; Otis Sam and Deb Radabaugh of Masontown, Clarence Will and Else Radabaugh of Aiken, SC, Robert and Linda Sanders of Morgantown, Ed and Georgia Meyers of Reedsville, James and Wanda Yeager of the Kingwood Pike, great uncle and aunt, Dave and Norma Shaffer of Masontown; several nieces and nephews; and many, many special friends that loved gathering in his garage on Fridays and Saturdays, standing around the woodstove, laughing, joking and having fun.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, James F. Shaffer; maternal grandparents, Warren H. Peck and Betty Cale Radabaugh; paternal grandparents, Frank J., Sr. and Hazel Good Shaffer; step grandmother, Ruth Larue Shaffer; cousin, Trudy L. Radabaugh Nicholson; uncle, Gary Radabaugh; aunt, Ann Radabaugh; and great uncles, John L. Good and Lawrence Jony Cale.
Cremation services will be provided by the Field Funeral Home in Masontown. A memorial service will be held 11am, Friday, December 11, 2009, at Boats residence, 2028 Morgan Mine Rd, Reedsville, WV, with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating.A dinner will be held following the memorial service at thr Reedsville Fire Hall.
