Obituary of Francis Simmons

Francis Burl Simmons, 64, of Morgantown passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in Reedsville. He was born in Morgantown, WV on October 22, 1945, the son of the late Francis L. and Prudie B. Cale Simmons. He was a retired steelworker and an avid sports fan. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by three sisters; Elizabeth Cottrell of Alliance, OH., Dwanda Burack of Washington, PA., and Diane Shane of Belsprings, VA; one brother Robert L. Simmons of Westover; two half brothers, Keith Simmons of Knoxville, TN, and Mark Simmons of Key West, FL; one step brother, Richard Peirira of Washington, DC; one step sister, Sharon McDonald of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia O. Simmons Sumpter. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, Preston County Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 977, and the WVANG Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Masontown.
