Obituary of Garnet Sisler

Garnet Ruth Sisler, 94, of Independence, WV, passed away on Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Delores, in Independence. She was born on September 6, 1914, in Reedsville, WV, the daughter of the late Elihu and Mary Agnes Farrell Born. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was the heart of her family. She operated the family farm for most of her life. She welcomed everyone into her home and especially enjoyed the Sunday dinners. She was very giving to everyone and was known as Grandma to many people. She is survived by five daughters and spouses, Janet & Donald Bragg of Independence, WV, Deloris & James Turner of Independence, WV, Susie & George Smith of Independence, WV, Doris & Allen Born of Reedsville, WV, and Becky Walter of Independence, WV; two sons and spouses, Rex & Dreama Sisler of Independence, WV, and Robert & Janice Sisler of Independence, WV; one sister Helen Catlett of Arthurdale, WV; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Richard Sisler, one son, Bernard James Sisler, one daughter, Agnes Marie Hileman, son-in-law Fred Walter, one brother Rex Born, two sisters, Grace Brown and Bethel Trickett, and one grandson, Stephen James. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Friday, July 31, from 1pm - 9pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1, at 1pm with her grandson Scott Cress officiating. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery.
