Obituary of Gary Smith

Gary Smith Viewing times: Friday February 9, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m Notes: Gary Allen Smith, age 49, of Arthurdale, WV, passed away February 7, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born, March 28, 1957, in Morgantown, WV, a son of the late Prentice Smith and Norma Jean Reed Smith of Arthurdale, WV. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved being “Pappy”. He was a coal miner for 30 years, having been employed at Osage # 3 and Blacksville # 2 mines. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Tyler Smith of Masontown; two daughters and spouses, Tami and Brian Deal of Masontown, and Trinia and Tony Deal of Bruceton Mills; three grandchildren, Jadyn Deal, Owen Deal, and Camryn Smith; two sisters, Carolyn Cale and Penny Smith, both of Arthurdale; a brother and spouse, Mark and Bonnie Smith of Tunnelton; a paternal grandmother, Viola Smith of PA; a niece, Ashley Cale, and two nephews, Stephen Cale and Mark Smith, Jr., an uncle; and his ex-wife and life long friend, Nancy Smith of Masontown. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Orval Smith and maternal grandparents, Ben and Ortha Reed. Cremation services will be provided by the Field Funeral home in Masontown. The family will be receive friends for a time of remembrance at the Field Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 6-8 pm.
