Pirlo Sylvester, 79, of Masontown, WV died Wednesday January 31, 2007 at her home beside friends and family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 17, 1927 in Greer, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Minnie McVicker Pirlo. She was a member of the St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown. She was employed by Sterling Faucet Company, and loved playing bingo and baking bread for family and friends. She is survived by two sons and spouses, Dan and Janice Sylvester of Morgantown, and Frank and LaVonne Sylvester of Masontown; five grandchildren and spouses, Hilary and Jason Cartwright of Reedsville, Josh and Stacy Sylvester of Masontown, Tanya and Rick Funk of Independence, Teresa Sylvester and friend Peter Nguyen of Secaucus, NJ, Brian and Destiny Sylvester of Masontown; five great grandchildren, Jacob Cartwright, Shaniah and Cody funk, Niko Fullmer and Zion Sylvester; two sisters, Shirley Dibell, of Kingwood, and Diana Martin of Ashtabula, OH; and four brothers and spouses, Tony and Betty Pirlo, Vaughn (Choppy) Pirlo, Fred and Flo Pirlo, and Louie and Jean Pirlo all of Morgantown, WV; and three sisters-in-law, Edith Watterson of Avon Lake, OH, Josephine Lawerence, and Charlotte Sylvester both of Masontown, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Eglo Sylvester, one sister, Linda Pirlo Quince, and one brother, Pete Pirlo. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday February 4, 2007 from 2-4 and 6 to 9 p.m. with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday February 5, 2007 with the Very Rev. Fr. Mark E. Ward, CP, VF as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Masontown Cemetery in Masontown, WV. The family wishes to thank Libby Wiles and all Hospice caregivers for their help, comfort, and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s memory, to the Hospice Care Corp., PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520.
