Obituary of Robert Sisler

Robert Roy Sisler, 70, of Independence passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Reedsville, on September 26, 1942, a son of the late Garnet Ruth (Born) and Raymond Richard Sisler. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He worked over 40 years in the coal mines and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He loved to spend time with his family whom he loved fiercely. He enjoyed reading westerns and tinkering with his old tractor. Robert was always the life of the party. He loved to joke and make people laugh. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janice (Tucker) Sisler; one daughter, Lisa Knight and husband Donald, of Independence; two sons, Tim Sisler and wife Alice of Reedsville and Richard Sisler and wife Valerie of Independence; six grandchildren, DJ Knight and wife Whitney of Kingwood, Richie Sisler and Emily Davis of Grafton, Justin Sisler of Reedsville, Amber Sisler and Andy Hartsell of Reedsville, Kayla Sisler of Reedsville and Emily Sisler of Reedsville; a great granddaughter, Layla Knight of Kingwood; five sisters, Janet Bragg and husband Donald of Gladesville, Deloris Turner and husband James of Independence, Susie Smith and husband George of Independence, Doris Born and husband Allen "Mick" of Reedsville and Becky Walter of Independence; one brother, Rex Sisler and wife Dreama of Independence; three brothers-in-law, Darrell Tucker and wife Linda of Blacksville, Jerry Tucker and companion Judy Nice of Upper Tract, Billy Tucker and wife Patti of Kingwood and several nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by one brother, Bernard James Sisler; one sister, Agnes Marie Hileman; father-in-law, Okey Tucker; mother-in-law, Thelma Tucker; sister-in-law, Brenda Rutt and his furry K-9 son, Max. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 12-8 PM. Services will be held at the Field Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11 AM with Robert's nephew, Scott Cress officiating. Cremation services will follow.
