Obituary of James Boggs
James Edward Boggs, 86, of Bretz, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born on November 30, 1926, a son of the late Thomas W. and Katherine Boggs.
He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was a member of Masontown United Methodist Church. He retired from the City of Morgantown after many years of service.
He is survived by one daughter, Carlin Richards of Masontown; four sons and spouses, Donald and Diane Cress of Morgantown, Richard and Patricia Sanders of Reedsville, Robert and Betty Sanders of Kingwood and Tim and Kathy Sanders of Bretz; four grandchildren he raised as his own; Lori Sanders, Heather Richards, Amber Nelson and Melanie Nelson; many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Stran, of MD and Helen Hill, of OH; a brother, Thomas Boggs and his wife Elizabeth, of VA.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Costalow Boggs; his second wife, Freda Cress Boggs; a daughter, Roseanne Boggs; a son, Terry Allen Sanders; a son in law, Paul "PJ" Richards; and a sister, Mary Virginia Matthews.
Friends will be received at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm and at the Masontown United Methodist Church on Wednesday June 5, 2013 from noon until the 1pm service time, with the Rev. Sam Starling officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
