Obituary of Cooper Taylor
Cooper Coolidge Taylor, 94, of Masontown, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015.
Cooper was born in Masontown on January 23,1921 a son of the late Mary (Radabaugh) and Lafayette Blaine Taylor.
He is survived by three daughters; Ida Loy and husband David of Masontown, Mary Kelly and husband James of Terra Alta and Karen Harding of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Sherry Adams of Charleston, SC, Claudia Shuttleworth of MD, William Harding of Denver, CO, Anne McArdle of Bruceton Mills, Jessica Haberer of Austin TX and Charles Kelly of Terra Alta; five great grandchildren, Michael, Gabrielle, and Brayden Dumire, and Phoebe and Daphne Shuttleworth; one brother, Claude and Ida Taylor of Masontown, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Ronnie Dumire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arbutus Ann "Boots" (Hitchcock) Taylor; two sons, Calvin Coolidge Taylor and William Edward Taylor; one daughter, Sharon Kay Taylor; one son-in-law, William Harding; two sisters, Sereta Taylor and Ireta Skelton and three brothers, Marriott "Dane" Taylor, Herbert Taylor and Warren Taylor.
He worked as a mechanic for most of his life and retired from Charter Engineering after many years of service. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the purple heart and the bronze star.
To honor Cooper's wishes Field Funeral Home in Masontown will provide cremation services.
Graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, WVANG Honor Guard, and the Preston County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977.
