Obituary of Donald Edwards

Donald Page “Hoppie” Edwards, 79, of Masontown, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009. He was born on June 4, 1930, in Smithfield, VA, the son of the late Josish B. Edwards and Effie Little Edwards. He was retired from the Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Center in Portsmouth, VA. Don served in the US Marines in Korea. He was a life member of the VFW Post #1589 in Masontown, WV, a member of the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, the American Legion, Valley Sportsman Association Hunting Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 2391 in Kingwood, WV. He is survived by his three sons, Donald P. and wife Jeanie Edwards II, of Zuni, VA, Joseph M. Edwards and companion Donna, of Kingwood, WV, and Kenneth A. and Diane Edwards, of Windsor, VA; one grandson, Jason A. Edwards, of Windsor, VA; and one brother-in-law, Paul Richardson, of Kingwood, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Edwards. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Tuesday, October 6 from 6 - 9 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 7th at 2pm with the Rev. Dr. David Spence officiating. Cremation services will follow. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County VFW Honor Guard, Preston County Chapter 977 Vietnam Veterans of America, and the West Virginia Army National Guard Camp Dawson.
