Obituary of James Joseph Tomczewski

James "Jim" Joseph Tomczewski Jr., 95, of Masontown, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Windy Hill Village in Kingwood.

 

He was born in Baltimore, MD, on June 25, 1923, a son of the late James Joseph Sr. and Anna (Gulczynski) Tomczewski.

 

James was a retired farmer and truck driver and had hauled out of Greer Limestone for 37 years. He worked in Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD during World War II. He was a longtime member of St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown and was a lector and Eucharistic minister. He had a servant's heart and after he retired, he faithfully delivered communion to the homebound and drove friends on various errands.

 

James is survived by two sons, Danny Tomczewski and spouse, Paula of Starkville, MS and David Tomczewski of Independence; a daughter, Patricia Ann Tomczewski of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren, Danielle Nadorff and spouse, Michael of Starkville, MS, Neil Tomczewski of Longmont, CO, Stephanie Tomczewski of Cincinnati, OH, Reid Tomczewski of Columbus, OH and Erik Tomczewski of Cincinnati, OH ; two great grandchildren, Jack Geis of Cincinnati, OH and Natalie Nadorff of Starkville, MS and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Wilma Lourene (Feather) Tomczewski, in 1995; two sisters and three brothers.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2008 at St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown with Fr. Andrew Switzer as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Masontown Cemetery.
