Obituary of Lyle Samuel Hefner

Lyle Samuel Hefner, 62, of Masontown, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home. He was born in Morgantown, WV on April 12, 1958, a son of the late Ernest Lyle Hefner and Goldie Katherine (Myers) Hefner Shaffer (who also passed away on October 13). He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a 1976 graduate of Valley High School. Lyle enjoyed hunting and fishing and drove truck for over 37 years. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Melissa (Michael) Hefner; one son, Nicholas Hefner and wife Jamie; granddaughter, Macie Grace Hefner; brother in law, Allen Michael and wife Cathie; mother-in-law, Ellen Michael and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Lyle is preceded in death by his stepfather, Don Shaffer; father in law, Paul Michael; sister in law, Deborah Michael and furbaby, Hemi. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 1 PM with Bishop Allen Jeffries officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Masontown. Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask.
