Obituary of Marvin Kaye Cottrell

Marvin Kaye "Peewee" Cottrell Sr., 67, of Masontown, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side.

He was born in Morgantown, WV on June 11, 1954, a son of the late Cecil and Sylvia (Wheeler) Cottrell.

Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Marvin enjoyed traveling the backroads and riding 4-wheelers. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping and his dogs. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his lifelong friend Terry and his grandchildren. Marvin worked many jobs in his life from coalmines, surveying and construction.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (May) Cottrell; three sons, Marvin "KC" Cottrell Jr. and Lisa, Ryan "Scott" Cottrell and Vanessa all of Masontown and Justin Cottrell and Chrissy of Rowlesburg; seven grandchildren, Bradley, Alexis, Kaylee, and Ryan Cottrell and Easton and Kylie Wolfe all of Masontown and Justin Ray Cottrell of Rowlesburg; one great granddaughter, Kathleen Cottrell of Masontown; three brothers, Gary Cottrell and Dolores, Bradley Cottrell and Rick Cottrell and Kim; two sisters, Connie Bonner and Lisa Loughry and Tom; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; his in-laws, Wayne and Janet Shaffer of Masontown and his special lifelong friend, Terry Sanders, whom he enlisted with in the Army Reserves Buddy Plan from 1974-1980.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Cottrell; two sisters, Melody Lambert and Wanda Davis and one sister-in-law, Debbie Cottrell.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 2 until the 5 pm service time with Rev. James Weber officiating. To honor Marvin's wishes he will then be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Field Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
