Obituary of Carolyn Sue Chidester

Carolyn Sue Wolfe Hovatter Chidester, 76, of Reedsville, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

She was born in Masontown, WV, on September 26, 1945, a daughter of the late Ernest and Goldie (Goodwin) Wolfe.

Carolyn graduated from Valley High School in 1963. She was a homemaker and raised four children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, and word search.

Carolyn is survived by one daughter, Susan Larew and husband Keith of Newburg; three sons, Richard Hovatter and wife Teresa of Morgantown, Rodney Hovatter and wife Brenda of Reedsville and Randy Hovatter and companion Donna Cahill of Reedsville; one step daughter, Sharon Sisler and husband Tim; one step son, Gary Chidester and wife Sandra; five grandsons, Nathan Larew and Melonie, Devon Larew and Kaitlyn, Jared Hovatter and Katie, Ryan Hovatter and Ashley, Jeremy Hovatter and Nina, two granddaughters, Kara Larew and Cory and Megan Hayes and Josh; two great grandchildren, Noah Larew and Amelia Hovatter; three step grandchildren, Jill Fetty and Ken, Wesley Chidester and Treasa and Jennifer Arnold and Jason; four step great grandchildren; Paige Arnold, Logan Arnold, Jake Chidester and Maximo Chidester and one brother, Glenn Wolfe and wife Linda of Bretz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Hovatter Jr. in 1973 and Ralph Chidester in 2005; grandson, Justin Hovatter; step grandson, Jamie Sisler; one sister, Goldie Lewis and seven brothers, Raymond, Ernest, Clarence, Fred, Frank, Alfred and Howard Wolfe.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery, 1346 Summers School Rd. Morgantown, WV 26508. A dinner will follow at the Burns Chapel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

The Field Funeral Home in Masontown is in charge of arrangements.
