Obituary of Rachel Curtis

In Rememberance

Rachel Curtis, 35 of Masontown, WV passed away unexpectedly at home September 2nd, 2021. Leaving behind her loving husband, (Robert) Dustin Curtis and beautiful daughter, Sydney Ann Curtis.

Rachel was born March 7th, 1986 at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, California the daughter of Kathryn Ilene (Metz) Holman and Richard Steven Holman ret. USN Diver. Rachel was a graduate from Morgantown High School.

In addition to leaving behind her husband and daughter; Rachel is survived by her Parents, Rick, Kathy and step father Tony (Dude) Soccorsi, older sister Melissa Ann Starnes, nephews Sean, Lorccan and Xavier. Her younger sister Rebecca Ilene (Holman) Baker and husband Alex. Maternal Grandfather Harold Donald Metz, other aunts/uncles and cousins, Maternal Grandmother (Elizabeth) Betty Ann Rodgers, Aunt Angela Metz and partner Chris Coates. In-Laws; Kim Curtis and Bob Curtis, brother in law Chuck Curtis, nieces; Brooklyn and Kylie, and other family members. Her Best Friend and partner in crime Kristin (Lobster) Neldon. And, all the Riders of SCRC 542 and SCRC 485.

Rachel was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandfather Dick Holman, Great-Aunt Patricia Joyce Eder, In-law Great Grandmother Ruth Everly and Aunt Deb Devall; and by many friends, far and near.

Rachel, being the middle child, was very adventurous, had a great sense of humor and loved playing tricks on her other father and boss, Tony (Dude) Soccorsi. She was the only employee who was fired and rehired more times than anyone can count. Rachel had an infectious smile and fun, playful, bubbling personality that would sweep you along in her shenanigans. If you were ever in trouble, she was there in a heartbeat and had your back with exuberance. She loved animals, as her friends and family could tell by the many photos she would take with them and try to rescue. But, Rachel's greatest adventure in life was when she met and married her husband, Dustin Curtis, and had their daughter, Sydney. Rachel loved music, going to raves and concerts, snowboarding, getting tattoos, shooting guns, riding motorcycles (only as a passenger), fishing, kayaking, going to scary movies and scary houses with her BFF Kristin Neldon. Rachel loved bringing her mother, Kathy, 4-leaf clovers. She could walk up to a patch of clover and pick one out, as her mother would be there searching for one and it being right under her nose. Rachel was so proud of getting her CNA and working with old folks; she was even trying to get classes to get her LPN. 

Rachel lived her life to the fullest and touched many hearts; she will continue to be missed by her family and friends. Fly high our sweet angel.
