Obituary of Daniel Allen Luzier

Daniel Allen Luzier, 69, of Masontown, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at home. He was born in Morgantown, WV, on August 14, 1955, a son of the late Glenn Allen Luzier and Dolores Grey (Taylor) Luzier of Arthurdale. Dan was a father, grandfather, friend and great pillar of the community. He was a 1974 graduate of Valley High School. Dan worked as a supervisor for Valley General Construction, Orange Construction and then for the Town of Masontown for many years doing everything from running equipment to reading water meters. Dan also served on Masontown's Town Council as the recorder. Dan was Honorary King Fireman during the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. In all his years of community service Dan achieved so many wonderful things. He assisted with starting the ambulance service at the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, getting local counseling groups started for first responders and 911 dispatchers, was a volunteer emergency medical technician and for several years Chief of the Masontown VFD. He was always writing to obtain grants for equipment for the fire department. Dan was an avid volunteer giving countless hours to the community. He was always the first person to step forward in aiding his neighbors and community in times of need. His passing will leave a large mark on the local communities and all the families he has touched over the years. In addition to his mother, Dolores Grey (Taylor) Luzier of Arthurdale, Dan is survived by his son, Luke Luzier of Bridgeport; his granddaughter, Ananiah Luzier and one sister, Lisa Toothman and husband Gary of Arthurdale. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Deanna Grey. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown from Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 11 am until the 1 pm time of service with his son, Luke Luzier, officiating. Interment will follow at Arthurdale Cemetery. A benefit dinner to honor Dan will be held at the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, 362 N. Main Street, Masontown, WV on January 18, 2025, from 4-8 pm along with a silent auction. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward his funeral expenses to Field Funeral Home, 10537 Veterans Memorial Highway, Masontown, WV 26542.
